She began researching social and emotional learning, which she called \u201cessential life skills more important than reading, writing and math,\u201d which include how to have healthy relationships, establish meaningful connections, manage emotions, and responsible decision-making.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThis is something that could benefit everyone,\u201d Lewis said. \u201cI also realized there\u2019s been decades of research that all point to the fact that it reduces and prevents all of the issues I was just talking about. It\u2019s a proactive, preventative way of thinking.
