Shaping the future of journalism. The Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications is committed to preparing the next generation of media professionals
through experiential learning and strategic partnerships. The school awarded over $168,000 in scholarships to 32 students this year alone, fueling excellence in and out of the
classroom.
The Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications is shaping the next generation of media
professionals through experiential learning, research, and strategic partnerships. Over $168,000 in
scholarships were awarded to 32 students, thanks to generous support from organizations such as
the WR Hearst Foundation. Students gained national exposure through networking trips to New York
City studios and reporting fellowships in South Korea, while alumni, who comprise 60% of the School’s
Advisory Council, serve as mentors and guest lecturers. The School’s emphasis on innovation and
civic engagement, including a digital absentee voters’ guide project, highlights the power of media to
advance democracy and social justice.
