The School of Liberal Arts and Education continues to
prepare leaders in education, public service, and the arts
through philanthropy and grant funding. A $1.2 million
grant from Communio established the National Center for
Black Family Life, positioning Hampton as a thought leader
in strengthening families and communities. Seventeen
faculty members secured over $3.7 million in research and
outreach grants, while alumni such as four-star General
Xavier Brunson ‘90 returned to inspire students at Founder’s
Day. This alignment of scholarship, service, and philanthropy
demonstrates the School’s commitment to preparing leaders
who shape a better tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the department hosted a “State of
Democracy in America” forum with two Virginia
State Senators reflecting our commitment to
innovative programs.
The Department of Sociology hosted its inaugural
career fair with 13 federal and local agencies,
connecting students directly to internships and
careers in public service and justice.

The Department of Communicative Sciences
and Disorders received $20,000 in scholarships
and state-of-the-art equipment from GN
ReSound, empowering students to pursue
advanced clinical practice and doctoral studies.
These collective achievements reflect not only
academic rigor but the deep and measurable
impact of philanthropy in motion.
