Hampton University Choir: A Harmonious Legacy
The Hampton University Choir continues its rich tradition of
excellence with an upcoming London tour that celebrates
history and elevates Hampton’s global visibility.

Philanthropic Support: The Music Department raised
funds to make the Summer 2025 London tour a reality.

Student Impact: Students will perform at the UK Black
Business Entrepreneurs Conference and the London
Design Biennale at Somerset House, retracing the 1930
European tour of composer R. Nathaniel Dett.

Faculty Contributions: Under Director Omar Dickenson,
the choir continues to perform masterworks that
preserve Hampton’s legacy.
Innovative Programs: The choir opened Black History
Month with a performance at the Governor’s Mansion in
Richmond, extending Hampton’s reach through cultural
diplomacy.
This global performance underscores how artistic
excellence amplifies Hampton’s mission and strengthens
its readiness for the future.
Department of Aviation: Soaring to New Heights
The Department of Aviation continues to prepare students for global careers in the rapidly
evolving aerospace industry through dedicated partnerships and alumni collaboration.

Philanthropic Support: The department received an annual
$25,000 gift from Boeing Global Engagement supporting
five students, and two $2,000 scholarships from the Laura
Taber Barbour Air Safety Foundation.
Student Impact: 27 students benefited from philanthropic
support, including those funded by PSA Airlines ($5,000)
and JetBlue for participation in the Organization of Black
Aerospace Professionals (OBAP) conference.

Innovative Programs: Students gained industry exposure
at the inaugural HBCU Day at the United Airlines Flight
Training Center in Denver, CO.
Alumni Engagement: Five alumni serve on the Aviation
Advisory Board, mentoring students and strengthening
Hampton’s ties to major airlines.
This synergy between industry and alumni illustrates how
Hampton’s engagement extends skyward, preparing students
for success while building a foundation for campaign growth.
