Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences:
Navigating a Path to Discovery
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences continues
to break new ground in biomedical research. With $1.2
million in new funding, including a $250,000 NIH grant
for a mass spectrometer and an $850,000 NIH National
Cancer Institute grant, the department is leading in
cancer genomics and health equity research.
Students received advanced laboratory training and
participated in an eight-week biomedical research
program through partnerships with the University
of Michigan and Fisk University. The new Pharmacy
Mentorship Program unites alumni pharmacists
with students to guide their academic and career
trajectories.

Department of Physics: Cultivating a New Generation
of Scientists
With more than $3.2 million in new grants, the Department
of Physics is defining the next frontier in research
and education. Funded by the DOE, DOD, and NSF, the
department’s faculty and students are exploring Quantum
Optics and Nuclear Fusion Plasma Physics, advancing both
scientific knowledge and global collaboration.
This combination of faculty leadership, student training, and
world-class research distinguishes Hampton as a national
hub for breakthrough in physics and applied science. The Hampton University Department of Physics explores the frontiers of light and
communication in the Integrated Photonics and Optical Communication Lab.
